Fivetran

Fivetran are disrupting the ETL space and fundamentally changing the way that companies approach data integration. They “solve the complex challenge of scaling and automating data integration better than anyone else” (Martin Casado, Andreesen Horowitz).

Backed by A16Z and other major VC’s, they have scaled from their roots in San Francisco, through EMEA, and are on a mission to conquer the enterprise integration market.

After establishing their EMEA hub in Dublin in 2018, they needed to build GtM teams across all commercial functions, and then expand into key territories (DACH/UK etc.).

Fivetran’s success is further demonstrated through their numerous awards and accolades, including the 2022 Google Cloud Global Technology Partner of the Year, and their appearance on the Forbes Cloud 100 list in 2022 and 2021.

THE PROCESS

When we first met CRO Jim Smittkamp at the Snowflake summit, Europe was Fivetran’s best-performing region despite only having a handful of reps on the ground. In 2019, they were on the cusp of Series B funding, a period of hyper-growth was on the horizon, and a strategy for scaling quickly and effectively was on the C-level agenda. What Jim and the EMEA team needed was a single partner who would be able to support as/when needed.

Fivetran needed a partner to not only deliver but represent them and their culture at the highest level in the market. That’s why they retained Teem exclusively to support the Fivetran team in scaling quickly throughout EMEA.

Fivetran had a strong brand and initial network that they wanted to keep developing, so needed to make sure that any external partners had a strong grasp on the culture, and were representing them well in the market. Time to hire was a key metric, meaning we needed to aim for as low of an interview to hire ratio as possible.

Teem helped Fivetran scale by 10 hires in just 18 months across the EMEA region. From GM EMEA to BDR to Solution Engineer, Fivetran have hired it.  Their target of maintaining the right culture fit was also achieved, alongside a 70% diversity rate. 90% of hires stayed at the company for longer than 12 months.
